The University of California, Berkeley invites applications for two approved tenure-track positions in Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) at the Assistant Professor level. Joint appointments with department-affiliated institutes and initiatives, or other UC Berkeley departments, will also be considered.
The EECS department is part of the College of Engineering and the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS). It offers one of the strongest research and instructional programs in this field anywhere in the world. Our key strength is our array of cross-disciplinary, team-driven projects. The integration of EE and CS forms the core, with strong interactions that extend into many other disciplines.
EECS is seeking applicants from all research areas with priority given to overall originality and promise versus sub-area of specialization. Preference will be given to applicants interested in creating innovative and far-reaching solutions to important problems in electrical engineering and/or computer science, as well as to applicants whose research, teaching or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education. We are also interested in candidates who have had non-traditional career paths and are committed to addressing family needs, including dual career couples, single parents and those who provide elder care. All applications must be complete by 11:59pm on the final date. Incomplete applications cannot be considered. Applications are “complete” when all required materials are uploaded and letters of reference have been requested through the system (if letters are required), even if the reference letters have not arrived. Once submitted, applications cannot be updated.
The University of California is committed to creating and maintaining a community dedicated to the advancement, application, and transmission of knowledge and creative endeavors through academic excellence, where all individuals who participate in University programs and activities can work and learn together in a safe and secure environment, free of violence, harassment, discrimination, exploitation, or intimidation. Consistent with this commitment, UC Berkeley requires all applicants for Senate faculty positions to complete, sign, and upload an Authorization of Information Release form into AP Recruit as part of their application. If an applicant does not include the signed authorization, the application will be considered incomplete, and as with any incomplete application, will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, applicants will only be subject to reference checks if and when they are selected as the candidate to whom the hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer.
