The Department of Physics at the University of South Florida, Tampa, seeks to fill a 9-month, full-time, tenure-earning position in Quantum Sensors at the assistant-professor level. All areas of sensors that encompasses new applications in disease diagnostics, environmental sensing, transportation, and stealth detection are included.  Emphasis is also given to sensor research that integrates with Quantum Computation, AI, and Machine Learning via computational techniques and principles of physics to healthcare.  Preference will be given to candidates with existing strengths in these areas.

The Physics Department has strong research programs in experimental/theoretical biophysics, condensed matter, and optics.  USF also offers excellent opportunities to interact with research programs in the College of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, including the Moffitt Cancer Center. The National Science Foundation (NSF) ranked USF at No. 25 among public research universities for research spending.
