Governors State University is a minority-serving institution and emerging Hispanic-serving institution in the Chicago Southland region seeking to hire a cluster of full-time, tenure track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computer Science. Positions will start on August 16, 2024, with the possibility for an early start in January 2024. Qualified applicants will have an earned Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, with industry experience and Ph.D. degrees preferred. We are seeking candidates as part of a cluster hire with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
· Artificial Intelligence
· Data Science
· Cloud Computing
· Quantum Computing
· 3D Modelling and/or Game Design
· Robotics and/or Drones
The successful candidate will be expected to a) have outstanding teaching skills to teach and update undergraduate and graduate courses b) have experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populations c) assist with the development of academic program and assessment and d) participate in appropriate professional development including serving on committees, maintaining a strong record of scholarship, and cultivating good connections with industry partners. Located within the Division of Science, Mathematics and Technology, in the College of Arts and Sciences, the Computer Science program offers B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science and post-baccalaureate certificates in Digital Analytics, Digital Forensics and Computer Programming. The dynamic and committed program faculty serve approximately 400 students at the undergraduate and graduate level, including both domestic and international students, as part of our mission to prepare students to succeed in a global society.
