The Department of Computer Science at Southeast Missouri State University invites applications for an Open Rank Visiting Professor position to start August 1, 2024. This multi-year engagement is aimed at enriching our academic community through a diverse array of teaching methodologies and research interests in the fields of Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Computer Information Systems.

Position Details

• Rank: Visiting Professor, Visiting Associate Professor, Visiting Assistant Professor, or Visiting Instructor, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications.
• Duration: The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of extension for an additional year contingent upon a favorable review of the candidate's teaching performance in the first year along with instructional needs of the department and University.
• Teaching Load:The successful candidate will be expected to teach an average of 12-15 credit hours per semester depending on rank. Teaching responsibilities will span across our undergraduate and graduate programs including:
  1. BS in Computer Science
  2. BS in Cybersecurity
  3. BS in Computer Information Systems
  4. MS in Applied Computer Science
  5. MS in Cybersecurity

Teaching modalities will include face to face classes, online classes, and blended classes.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, STEM or a closely related discipline is required, though candidates with a Master's degree who possess significant teaching and professional experience in the relevant fields will also be considered. (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government-certified university).
• Demonstrated ability to teach effectively within and across the aforementioned programs
• Special consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in Information Systems, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence
• Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and the potential to contribute to the department's research profile
• Evidence of effective communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
