Minimum Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates for this position will have at least 10 years of professional practice in their field of expertise and hold a Master’s degree in Information Systems or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the area of instruction.
  • Qualified candidates will possess professional competence and experience that will benefit the CIS program in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University.
  • Qualified candidates will have demonstrated ability to perform teaching duties associated with the position.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)
The department especially seeks qualified candidates who possess expertise/knowledge in areas including networking, programming (Python), database, systems analysis and design, business analytics, and/or cybersecurity.

License/Certification Required
For courses leading to certification, faculty must either hold a current version of the certification or make a good faith effort to obtain the certification in a timely manner.

Description of the Department or Unit
The Department of Computer Information Systems is housed in the Walker College of Business at Appalachian State University. The Walker College of Business is committed to ensuring that its graduates are equipped to succeed in an inclusive, innovative, and multicultural world.

Individuals holding full-time non-tenure track positions are expected to teach the equivalent of 12 credit hours per academic semester and provide service to the institution.
